Winter's Peace - Ch. 8Joshua managed to arrive at the bar right when his watch signaled it was five o'clock. To get to the bar, he had to take some steps down from the walk. It was located on the very bottom floor of a building that almost looked to be empty. Walking on in, smoke and the strong smell of spirits bombarded his senses, making him cough a few times. He wasn't used to this kind of bar. He frequented the ones that seemed to be a little more uptown, but it didn't surprise him at all that Wooley would come to a place like this. A zoo that fit perfectly with the type of animal he knew Wooley to be.

Winter's Peace - Ch. 7The phone rang for a long while before, on the very last ring, the click of someone answering rang clear in the head piece. There was quite the commotion going on in the background. There was what sounded like pots clanging on metal mixed in with the sizzle of fire. Shouts could be heard coming from all over. Who in the world was Mr. Jones having him call?! It sounded like a zoo.

"Hey, babe," a man answered. "What's up?"

"Babe?" Joshua responded back in confusion. "Um…no. My name's Joshua Hammond. I was told by my boss, Mr. Jones, that you could help me with a problem I've found myself in."

Winter's Peace - Ch. 6The weekend flew by too quickly for Joshua. He never knew playing dress up with a little girl could turn out to be so fun. Sunday was over before they both knew it. When he awoke to the sound of his alarm clock, which went off way too early for his liking this time around, he walked into the living room to find the tv on and Ellie passed out on the sofa. The girl must have snuck in a late night cartoon marathon. He needed to wake her up to have a talk with her about what he would need to do today, but he found it difficult to do so.

"I'll wake her before I leave," he decided and went about getting ready for the day.

Winter's Peace - Ch. 5One of these days he was sure he was going to regret going about this situation the way he was. Warning bells rang in his mind every moment of the day, but he chose to ignore them. What did he hope to get out of keeping this little girl around? He was unsure of why he felt inclined to take care of her at least for the weekend. There was just something in the way she smiled. And just last night she managed to sneak her way into his room and make herself comfortable in his bed. It was quite the surprise to wake up to find her nestled close to him.

In a way he wanted to pretend she wasn't there even if she really was there. He could easily turn his head and not look at the girl. Out of sight, out of mind. However, someone like her would be hard to ignore if they were in the same room together. There was nothing he needed to do today. It was Saturday after all. Oh Kaet. Why are you so damn beautiful? And the snow just adds to it! I really do love that dress. I don't put her in it near as much as I used to. I really do need to remedy that because this is just too perfect for her.

She looks amazing. That dress is soo beautiful!!! Oh, I was in Alabama durring Christmas and around 11:30 we went to the capitol building there in montgomry and I danced around the tree like a complete idiot. There were only oraments on one side of it tho...

It wasn't snowing at that hour. It snowed later on, when I wasn't there. But the capitol building did look radiant in the light of the tree.
